Privacy Policy

Reading about electron configurations shouldn't generate a dossier, and on ScienceStruck ("we," "us," "our"; the website at https://sciencestruck.com, the "Site") it doesn't. There are no accounts here and nothing to sign up for, which keeps the data story short. This page tells the whole of it: what reaches us, what it's used for, and the rights you hold over it.

1. Data that reaches us

Correspondence. If you write to our contact address, we receive your email address and message, use them to reply, keep the thread as long as the conversation needs plus a reasonable archival period, and then delete it. Leave out anything sensitive; a correction report needs a quoted sentence, not personal details.

Request logs. Serving any web page produces technical records, and ours is no exception: our host logs IP address, browser and user agent, referring page, and timestamp for each request. These logs exist for security, delivery, and troubleshooting, are kept for a limited period, and are never mined for advertising profiles.

Readership measurement. We count readers with Google Analytics 4, loaded through Cloudflare Zaraz so the script runs server-side instead of in your browser tab. It may set cookies and record IP address, device and browser details, pages viewed, and coarse location. What we actually look at is aggregate: which explanations get read, which get abandoned. Individual readers are invisible to us, by design.

2. What that data is used for

Four things, and nothing else: answering your messages; operating and securing the Site; detecting spam, abuse, and technical faults; and meeting legal obligations where they apply. Selling personal information is not on the list and never will be.

3. Advertising status

The Site carries no advertising today. If that changes, ads would come through third-party networks whose cookies serve and measure them (personalized only with consent where law requires), and this page will be rewritten to name them before the first ad renders — watch the date at the top. Standing opt-outs for personalized advertising live at Google's Ads Settings and www.aboutads.info/choices regardless.

4. Cookies

Strictly necessary cookies (security and spam prevention) plus the analytics cookies described in section 1 — that's the full inventory. Delete or block them freely in your browser; every article reads identically without them.

5. The processors behind the Site

Cloudflare hosts and secures the Site and runs the Zaraz loader (privacy policy); Google supplies the aggregate analytics (privacy policy). Each may use visitor data only to provide its service to us.

6. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction — the GDPR and CCPA/CPRA are the big ones — you may hold rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict personal information we hold, and to object to certain processing. Requests go to the email at the bottom; we answer as the applicable law requires.

7. Children

Students read this site, but it is not directed to children under 13 and we knowingly collect nothing from them. If a child has sent us personal information, tell us and it will be deleted.

8. Where processing happens

We operate from the United States and our providers process data there and in other countries, under data-protection laws that may differ from your own. Using the Site means your data may make that trip.
